Interested to know whether the illusive green parrots are kea?
Paekakariki is the perching place of the kakariki, a little green parrot with either a red crown, or, even more rare, a yellow-crown. The kea is an alpine parrot found on the South Island. They can be illusive, as they rip the rubber out of your car :)
And then we have our extremely elusive, because really really endangered, beautiful green ground parrot.
:) thanks for the info, great descriptive names.
