About the two-legged one writing this

I’ll get round soon to writing about me and my involvement with dog training, seminars attended, etc. Promise. (See below.)

But in the meantime. I am a positive reinforcement trainer. Training with dogs is about learning with dogs, not about being able to “control” them. Dogs are not conditioned machines. They have a rich biological life. We all learn better from positive feedback and information than punishment. There is no reason for punishment in learning, nor for violence in our relationships.

    Hi there!
I noticed that you are signed up for One Mind Dogs, AND you are in NZ…I’ve just signed up and I live in Akaroa. However, you might know a friend of mine: Joanne Small? I’m just wondering what you think about One Mind so far?

    • Hi Cynthia,
Sorry for the very late reply. I’m in Wellington. No, sorry, I don’t know Joanne Small, I think.
I’m really loving One Mind Dogs. It works fantastic for my very sensitive BC x Huntaway girl. But I am looking forward to more foundation kind of stuff, so curious about their ‘Next Level’.
      How do you find OMD?

    Heya,
I read your coment on oneminddogs that you miss some more foundation kind of training. At the moment I am thinking about signing up for OMD as a premium member. My focus would be to learn the basic techniques for the jumps they introduce, is that possible through the online system at the moemnt or would you recomend to wait for “next level”?

    • Hi Hanna,
It depends on you, really. The material on OMD is fantastic, but it is not step by step from the very beginning and how to teach the dogs the obstacles, as it sounds like Next Level will do. Might be best to just email them and ask whether what you are after is currently part of their offerings for Premium members. They are very helpful with questions.
